Teoman Akturel  (b. 1932) graduated from the Department of French Language and Literature at Istanbul University and studied economics in Paris. He is widely acclaimed for his translations into Turkish of Brecht’s poetry. He won the 1959 Translation Award of the Turkish Language Association with his translation of Philippe Soupault’s Sarlo. His volume Devinek (1960) is comprised of his own poetry as well as poetry he has translated.
